The Bamberg Orchestra presented the new work “Overcoming” by renowned composer Franghiz Ali-Zadeh on December 2nd in a remarkable demonstration of musical diversity and cultural solidarity. This piece was performed in a series with the symphonic works of Anton Brückner and Paul Ben-Haim, under the masterful direction of Israeli conductor Lahav Shani.
The organizers of these performances in Bamberg and at the Dortmund Concert Hall aimed to establish a sign of solidarity, peace, and humanity with the presentation of works by composers representing the three confessions. They are hopeful that music from different cultural circles will help to strengthen the bridges of understanding.
In the run-up to the events, Federal President Norbert Lammert gave a moving speech about the current devastating situation in the Middle East. His words emphasized the urgency and relevance of the message that the organizers wanted to convey with these performances.
